Resumen de The Effect of Domestic Policies on Tourism Demand: a Theoretical Analysis

Roland Craigwell

  • This article provides a general framework in which several domestic policies on tourism in a particular region can be evaluated. It shows that the tourism industry could be enhanced by relaxing monetary and tax policies and/or lowering budget imbalances. A better environment, less tourist harrassment, and higher promotion expenditure are also beneficial to the industry. Strong unions are desirable but the impact of trade protection is ambiguous.
