    Este ensayo expone una nueva teoría mediante la cual puede deducirse el futuro del teatro en España si lo analizamos como si fuera un edificio construido hace muchos años. Si investigamos todas sus partes, tanto estructurales como no estructurales, examinando el estado actual de sus elementos, podremos predecir si resistirá el impacto de una grave crisis económica y social. Esto se realiza a través del análisis de las consecuencias socioculturales y psicológicas de la banalización del formato, así como del estudio de la relación entre la economía y la implantación del teatro no socialmente óptimo. Además, se aporta un análisis del estado actual de la crítica teatral, como elemento importante de lastre del teatro.

    This essay exposes a new theory that will allow us to deduce the future of theatre in Spain, analysing it as if it were a building constructed many years ago. If we investigate all of its parts, both structural and non-structural, examining the current state of its various elements, we’ll be able to predict whether or not theatre will be able to withstand the impact of a severe economic and social crisis. This is done by analysing the socio-cultural and psychological consequences of the banalisation of the format, as well as studying the relationship between the economy and the implementation of non-socially optimal theatre. It also provides an analysis of the current state of theatrical criticism, which is a key element of theatre’s decline.
