Resumen de Carencias en la educación matemática en la actualidad: ¿En qué fallamos desde hace más de 20 años?

En el presente capítulo se define, en primer lugar, la concepción de problema desde la legislación vigente (LOMCE) que especifica, dentro del currículum de matemáticas, la función de aplicación de los algoritmos a situaciones de la vida real. En segundo lugar, se especifican las características de los problemas aritméti-cos, a partir de ahora denominados estándar, sus características, y su similitud con los algoritmos, sin tratar situaciones problemáticas para su resolución. Por último, se analizan los resultados de los alumnos, futuros docentes y profesores de mate-máticas cuando tienen que resolver y evaluar las respuestas realistas de alumnos a problemas basados en la vida real o no-estándar. En la discusión, se critican las características de los problemas de los libros de texto, que fomentan creencias inco-rrectas sobre la resolución y evaluación de los problemas, de forma no realista, y que no van de la mano de la legislación vigente.

This chapter defines, firstly, the conception of math problem from current Spanish legislation (LOMCE) that specifies, in the mathematics curriculum, the applying function of algorithms to real-life situations. Secondly, there are spe-cified the characteristics of the arithmetic scholar problems, so-called standard, their characteristics, and their similarity with the algorithms, without dealing with problematic situations for their resolution. Finally, there are analysed results of elementary pupils, pre-service students and primary school teachers when they have to solve and evaluate realistic responses of pupils to real life or non-standard based problems. In the discussion, there are criticized characteristics of the textbook problems, which foster incorrect beliefs about the resolution and evaluation of the problems, unrealistically, and that do not go hand in hand with current legislation.
