El actual trazado de la Red de Carreteras, incluye un elevado número de túneles, los cuales están dotados de un conjunto de instalaciones cuya misión fundamental es conseguir un nivel de seguridad para los usuarios en consonancia con el resto de la red a cielo abierto.
Es necesario entonces, para poder actuar ante cualquier incidencia, contar con sistemas de detección rápidos y eficaces, que gestionados desde un mismo Centro de Control permitan elaborar el plan de actuación mas adecuado.
La Gestión del Tráfico en Túneles, apoyándose en la información recibida de los mencionados sistemas, elaborará planes de regulación del tráfico para conseguir una circulación ágil y segura en el interior del túnel y en sus accesos, informando a su vez al usuario en lo referente a las condiciones del tráfico e incluso si fuese necesario, la utilización de rutas alternativas.
Se describe una aplicación para la Gestión del Tráfico en Túneles, que incluye las instalaciones más relevantes para su funcionamiento.

The present layout of the road networks, includes a high number of tunnels. These tunnels have special installations whose fundamental mission is to obtain a level of security for the users in harmony with the remainder of the network that is out of tunnels.
Then it is necessary, to act before any incident, to have efficient and quick systems of detection, that managed from a same control center allows to elaborate the most adequate plan of action.
Being supported in the received information of the mentioned systems, the management of the traffic in tunnels, will elaborate plans of traffic control to obtain an agile and safe circulation inside tunnel and in its accesses, informing to the user with respect to the conditions of the traffic and if it were necessary, the use of alternative routes.
An application for the management of the traffic in tunnels is described, that includes the most important installations for its operation
