    La traducción d’obres lliteraries al asturianu yera un llabor conocíu enantes del Surdimientu, pero sedrá cola nacencia d’esti movimientu cultural y lliterariu a partir de mediaos de los años 70 del s. XX cuando esta actividá espoxigue hasta llegar a un bon altor. Dende esta dómina dirán conociéndose n’Asturies delles tornes dende llingües como l’inglés, el francés, l’italianu… que tienen como oxetivu facer llegar grandes títulos de la lliteratura universal a los llectores que teníen como llingua materna l’asturianu. Y atoparemos tamién traducciones de calter non lliterariu.

    Nesti artículu va afondase nel casu del teatru, ún de los xéneros con menos traducciones al asturianu que cuntaba amás con un problema amestáu, la solombra del teatru costumista –popular por demás ente’l públicu asturiano– qu’enzancaba la medría del nuevu teatru. Centrándonos nos datos recoyíos de les publicaciones en volume de traducciones d’obres de teatru al asturianu y los testos teatrales traducíos nes revistes Lletres Asturianes y Lletres lliterariu asoleyaes pola Academia de la Llingua Asturiana, ufiertaráse un panorama de la traducción teatral dende’l Surdimientu, afondando nes llingües de les que se traduz, los autores que se traducen y los traductores que faen esi trabayu.

    Although the translation of literary works into Asturian was an activity that already existed before the so-called Asturian Renaissance (Surdimientu), it was after mid-70s of the twentieth century, when this cultural and literary renaissance was born, when translation was at its peak. Various translations from English, French or Italian, among others, aimed at providing great literary works to Asturian readers, thereby making them available to a public whose first language was Asturian. There were a few non-literary translations as well.This paper focuses on the particular case of drama, one of the genres with a very reduced number of translations, since the existence of abundant pieces of popular and appreciated literary costumbrismoovershadowed the arrival of new drama. Moreover, the data stems from the collection of published translations of dramatic works and dramatic texts translated and published in Lletres Asturianesand Lletres lliterariu, two journals of the Academy of the Asturian Language. This corpus will reveal a general overview of drama translation at the Asturian Renaissance, or Surdimientu, and deepen into aspects such as which were the main source languages, the authors whose works were translated and who were the translator.
