La información sintáctica que ofrecen los diccionarios actuales, tanto monolingües como bilingües, en cuanto al adjetivo solo puede calificarse de muy deficiente. De ahí la conveniencia de elaborar un diccionario sintáctico contrastivo del adjetivo. Para ello resulta necesario sentar previamente las bases sobre las cuales debería procederse. A través del análisis de obras que, tanto en la gramaticografía alemana como en la española, se han ocupado del adjetivo, se pretende definir qué es un adjetivo, qué funciones puede desempeñar y qué complementos puede llevar, para incidir al mismo tiempo en la cuestión de qué información debería ofrecer un diccionario de este tipo.

The syntactic information related to the adjective which is nowadays offered by both monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, can only be described as a very poor information. Hence the need to elaborate a contrastive syntactic adjective dictionary. In order to create such dictionary, it is necessary to lay the foundations on which it should be based. Through the analysis of works that both in German and in Spanish have dealt with the adjective, this dictionary intends to define what an adjective is, what functions and complements can it have in order to decide what type of information should a dictionary of this type provide.
