    Esta investigación documental tiene como objetivo fundamental analizar y dar a conocer la relevancia de incluir a los animales no humanos de las familias en los informes sociales. Para ello se ha realizado una búsqueda bibliográfica y se han consultado fuentes primarias y secundarias que expliquen la dimensión socioafectiva de las mascotas en la familia y su potencial como indicador de la realidad del núcleo de convivencia. Antes parecía absurdo incluir en las valoraciones profesionales el papel que jugaban los animales en la familia humana, ahora es un factor para considerar en los informes sociales y en las intervenciones de carácter sistémico porque en muchas investigaciones ya se ha demostrado que el animal no sólo influye en la relación familiar, sino que ocupa un lugar y puede ser un elemento que revele al profesional la disfunción familiar o incluso, situaciones de abuso o maltrato.

    This fundamental research aims to analyze and raise awareness of the importance of including nonhuman animals of families in social reports. To this end, a bibliographic search was carried out and primary and secondary sources were consulted to explain the socio-affective dimension of pets in the family and their potential as an indicator of the reality of the coexistence nucleus. Before, it seemed absurd to include in professional evaluations the role played by the pet or animals in the human family, now it seems a determining factor to be considered in social reports and systemic interventions because in many investigations it has already shown that the Animal not only influences the family relationship but also occupies a place and can be an element that reveals to the professional family dysfunction or even situations of abuse or abuse.
