Microsatellites, defined by inherited short runs of tandemly repeated nucleotide sequences (STR's), are a rich source of highly polymorphic markers in human population and easily detected by PCR. We report DNA typing of the tetrameric repeat (AATG) STR 'S HUMTH01 mapped to chromosomal locus 11p15.5.
This project establishes the HUMTHO1 allelic frequencies in two amerindian populations by comparing individuals selected from ethnia Aymara (80 samples) and Quechua (68 samples) to an european population. We have found highly allele variations beetwen the amerindian populations and caucasoids.
