    El principal objetivo del artículo es poner a disposición de los estudiosos el Auto de la Visita canónica del obispo Pedro Miguel de Argandoña al monasterio Santa Catalina de Siena en Córdoba (1748). Documento inédito conservado en el archivo de este antiguo convento dominicano (1613). En los primeros números, seofrece: una introducción sobre este obispo del antiguo Tucumán (1); su relación con el dicho monasterio (2); la visita realizada ese año, que concluye con un Auto (3); y las disposiciones principales del documento (4). Luego se transcribe el texto de dicho Auto, firmado por el prelado y su secretario (5). El presente aportepermitirá seguir investigando sobre este primer monasterio argentino, que ya ha sido objeto de investigaciones y publicaciones. En esta visita, el obispo Argandoña entregó a la comunidad varias disposiciones, como lo habían hecho sus predecesores. Al presentar ahora el Auto completo, más el contexto histórico y la personalidad del prelado, se apreciará mejor que -como pastor- más que denunciar faltas y decretar reformas, procuró sostener y promover la vida de aquellas mujeres consagradas a Dios en laIglesia, según la tradición de santo Domingo de Guzmán. Su propósito era, pues, atender a cuanto las monjas necesitasen para cumplir mejor su vocación religiosa, evitando posibles peligros, según su Regla y demás normas; de manera que, con una vida austera, virtuosa, orante y de caridad, acompañaran al pueblo ydieran gloria a Dios.

    The main objective of this article is offer the researchers the Auto (official document) of the Canonical visit to Santa Catalina´s Monastery in Cordoba, by bishop Pedro Miguel de Argandoña (1748). It is an unpublished document preserved in the care of this ancient dominican convent (1613). In the first numbers is offered an introduction about the ancient Tucuman´s bishop (1); his relationship with this Monastery (2); the visit which took place that year and that finished with the mentionated Auto (3); and the main dispositions of thisdocument (4). Afterwards it is transcribed this Auto, signed by the Prelate and his Secretary (5). This study will help future researchers to improve knowledge about the first argentinian monastery, which indeed has been already object of several investigations and publications. During this visit, bishop Argandoña gave severaldispositions to the community, just like his predecessors. Presenting now the integral Auto, including the historical context and the Prelate’s personality as well, it will be possible appreciate better that he -as pastor- more than pointing out the falts and dictating reformations, he procured the sustenance and promotionof those women´s life consacrated to God in the Church, according to the tradition of Saint Domingo de Guzmán. Thus his purpose intended to answer the nuns´s requirements in order to achive -in a better way- their religious vocation, avoiding possible dangers, according to their Rule and others regulations; so that they could better serve the people and give glory to God.
