El artículo, del que ahora se publica la segunda parte, intenta ahondar en el estudio del sentido y razón de ser de la convocatoria del concilio Vaticano II centrándose en el análisis de los Discursos que el Pontífice Juan XXIII pronunciara desde el primer anuncio de la magna asamblea, 25 de enero de 1959, hasta la jornada de su inauguración el 11 de octubre de 1962. En esta segunda parte del artículo, tal y como se anunciara en la primera parte, se estudian tres temas: Concilio y unidad, nueva época, historia conciliar y Concilio, identidad, objetivo y fruto del Concilio.

This paper, whose first part has already been published, is the second one. It tries to deep into the study of the meaning and the purpose of the convocation of Second Vatican Council. It focuses on the analysis of the Discourses that Pope John XXIII delivered from the first announcement of the great assembly, from January 25 untill the day of its inauguration on October 11, 1962. In the present second part, as we said in the first one, three subjects are studied: new epoch, council history and Council, identity, purpose and fruit of the Council.
