The aim of the study was to compare the morphological and body composition characteristics of girls practicing handball. The sample consisted of female handball athletes from the 12 to 14 year age group (n = 22) and a 15 to 16 year old cadet (n = 22). A two-way ANOVA was used, adopting a p ≤ 0.05 for the following variables: height (H); Wingspan (W) and body mass index (BMI). The results indicate that the cadet amateurs and points have higher values of weight, height and wingspan in relation to the infant category, and central athletes presented higher values of body composition and morphology in relation to the athletes who work on the goal and the points. Together the results contribute to guiding teachers and coaches in detecting new talents and determining game position.

ABSTRACT Morphological characteristics and body composition in handball athletesThe aim of the study was to compare the morphological and body composition characteristics of girls practicing handball.
