Resumen de La educación como medio para minimizar expresiones de discriminación y exclusión

Este texto pretende ratificar la educación como una herramienta para potencializar en las personas capacidades, intereses y aptitudes. Es también un medio para movilizar actitudes que permitan avanzar en la conformación de sociedades menos discriminatorias y excluyentes, en donde se reconozca, respete y valore la diversidad como condición humana y esencia del ser. Se parte de un acercamiento al término diversidad y, seguidamente, al de discriminación, el cual emerge de la interacción con el contexto cuando se entra a violentar, desdibujar, rechazar a otro(s) sencillamente por ser diferente(s) y no acomodarse a unos cánones sociales establecidos. Finalmente, se reflexiona frente al tema educativo como herramienta que permite transitar de esquemas de discriminación y exclusión a esquemas de respeto, aceptación y valoración por la diferencia.Palabras clave: diversidad, educación, imaginarios sociales, discriminación exclusión.

This study intends to ratify education as a tool to empower skills, interests and abilities among people. Also it sees education as a means to mobilize attitudes that allow advancing in the formation of less discriminatory and exclusionist societies, where diversity, as a human condition and being’s essence, is acknowledged, respected and valued. The point of departure is an approach to the terms of diversity and discrimination, as the latter emerges from interaction with the context in cases where the other is forced, minimized or rejected for the sole fact of being different, and not to fit in some established social canons. Finally, it reflects on education as a tool that allows moving from discrimination and exclusion to respect, acceptance and acknowledgement of difference.Keywords: diversity, education, social imaginaries, discrimination, exclusion.
