  La educación para la salud, responde a un rol esencial para Enfermería y constituye una meta primaria y la principal estrategia para ayudar a las personas a obtener comportamientos conducentes al autocuidado. Tiene implícita una dimensión ética la que exige, entre otros, la consideración del derecho a participar en la atención, el respeto individual de las necesidades; la consideración del consentimiento informado; la entrega de información completa y veraz y el respeto por el nivel de comprensión de cada persona. En la práctica en un ámbito general, estas deficiencias se manifiestan en conductas autoritarias, paternalistas o coercitivas entre otras, las que llevan a respuestas pasivas y dependientes que limitan la participación en la atención en salud. En la actualidad no existe información suficiente que apoye, fundamente e identifique dilemas éticos en la práctica educativa. Frente a esto, el profesional enfermero requiere, demostrar conductas comprometidas, flexibles y fomentar investigaciones al respecto

  Health education plays an important role in Nursing and constitutes a primary goal and the main strategy to help people acquire behaviors leading to self care. It has an implicit ethical dimension which demands, among others, taking into consideration the right to become involved in the attention, the individual respect of the needs; considering the informed consent; providing complete and truthful information and respecting each person's understanding level. In the practice, in a general environment these differences are shown in authoritative, paternalist and/or coercive behaviors, among others, which lead to passive and dependent answers that restrict the involvement in health attention. Currently, there is not sufficient information that supports, sets up and identifies ethical dilemmas in the educational practice. As a response to it, the nursing professional must show committed and flexible attitudes and do research in this respect
