El trasplante hepático constituye una alternativa terapéutica para pacientes con enfermedades hepáticas, progresivas, irreversibles, potencialmente mortales y no susceptibles de otro tipo de tratamiento. Las complicaciones postrasplante generan una alta morbilidad y mortalidad.
FJ se trasplantó, el postoperatorio inmediato en UCI fue satisfactorio. Subió a planta, pero al 4º día postoperatorio presenta un cuadro de dolor abdominal severo. Se interviene por una perforación intestinal, pasando a la UCI durante varias semanas, estando su vida comprometida.
Este relato revela sus vivencias, sentimientos, miedos, emociones vividas desde que le diagnostican la enfermedad, su deterioro, la espera del trasplante, el trasplante y la estancia en UCI.

FJ received a transplant and had a satisfactory immediate post-operative in ITU.
He was admitted in a surgical ward but to 4º postoperatory day, he presents a picture of severe abdominal pain and had to be operated of intestinal perforation. As a result he was several weeks on intensive care unit and the situation jeopardized seriously his life.
The story describes his experiences, feelings, fears, since the diagnosis of the hepatic disease, his health deterioration, a hopeless waiting for an organ, and the stay in ITU.
