    La revisión manual de la cavidad uterina es un procedimiento que se aplica en la tercera etapa del parto, cuando hay indicaciones precisas, sin embargo, evidenciamos que se practica de forma rutinaria en muchos de los centros de atención obstétrica en nuestro país y América latina. Son las parturientas que asisten a estos centros de atención, quienes reciben la revisión manual de la cavidad uterina, por tanto asumimos en esta investigación la perspectiva/metodología de género a través del abordaje cualitativo para indagar y precisar los aspectos subjetivos de las experiencias vividas por las mujeres cuyos partos fueron atendidos en el Hospital Central de Maracay, centro de atención tipo IV que cuenta con el postgrado de Ginecología y Obstetricia avalado por la Universidad de Carabobo; eso se logró al aplicar entrevistas cualitativas semiestructuradas, con una representatividad dada por la saturación del conocimiento que se alcanza con 21 mujeres. Se logra conocer así que, la revisión manual de la cavidad uterina es un procedimiento practicado de forma rutinaria, mecanizada e injustificada, donde la mujer recibe poca información y accede a su realización por temor a su integridad y vitalidad, aun cuando deba soportar un estímulo doloroso de gran intensidad; perdiendo con ello la autonomía y apropiación de su cuerpo.

    The manual exploration of the uterine cavity is a procedure that is applied in the third stage of labor, when there are precise indications; however, we evidenced that it is practiced routinely in many obstetric care centers in our country as well as in other Latin American countries. The women in labor are the ones who attend these centers of obstetric care and who receive manual exploration of the uterine cavity; therefore we assume in this research the perspective/methodology of gender through a qualitative approach to investigate and clarify the subjective aspects of the experiences lived by women whose childbirths were attended at the Central Hospital of Maracay, type IV care center through the postgraduate studies in Gynecology and Obstetrics supported by the University of Carabobo. This was achieved by applying semi-structured qualitative interviews with a representativeness given by the saturation of knowledge reached with 21 women. It is possible to know that manual examination of the uterine cavity is a routine, mechanized and unjustified procedure, where women receive little information and usually approve it due to fear of their integrity and vitality, even when they must endure an intense and painful stimulus while losing the autonomy and appropriation of their own bodies.
