    El artículo subraya la importancia de discriminar las causas que pueden afectar el turismo en un país que atraviesa situaciones de violencia, crisis económica y otras problemáticas combinadas, por un periodo largo de tiempo. Estudia el caso peruano, buscando establecer qué elementos fueron más significativos en afectar su turismo receptivo entre 1980 y 1992. Contra lo que comunmente se piensa plantea que fueron las crisis económicas así como otros factores de índole social y política, junto al terrorismo, los elementos a considerar, y no solamente este último.

    The article underlines the importance of a proper distinction between the causes that affects tourism in acountry that goes though violent situations, economic crisis, and other problems combined, for a long period oftime. Through the study of the Peruvian case, the work seeks to establish which elements were the mostmeaningful in affecting the receptive tourism between 1980 and 1992. Against what is commonly thought, itposes that the economic crisis as well as other social and political factors besides terrorism, must be considered toexplain the circumstances.
