The author analyzes the effects that the hostage takeover of Japan's Embassy in Lima, Peru, had on the number of travelers visiting that country. He compares the outcomes of the attack with statistics pertainint to tourist travel to other parts of the world. A premise of this work is that world travelers may have become more resilient to danger when visiting troubled spots.
