Resumen de Patrimonio, nación y museos: un recorrido por más de doscientos años de historia

Este artículo propone recorrer la historia de los denominados «museos nacionales» desde sus orígenes, a finales del siglo XVIII, hasta la actualidad. Primero se reflexiona sobre la conceptualización del «patrimonio nacional» y su papel en la creación de colecciones museísticas a lo largo del siglo XIX. El itinerario continúa con los cambios producidos en las narrativas de estos museos al finalizar la Segunda Guerra Mundial y termina con los últimos debates planteados en torno a estas colecciones en el seno de las sociedades postmodernas.

This paper proposes a route through the history of «national museums» from their origins at the end of the 18th century to the present day. First, it reflects on the conceptualization of «national heritage» and its role in the creation of museum collections throughout the 19th century. The itinerary continues with the changes in the narratives of these museums after the Second World War and ends with the latest debates on these collections in postmodern societies.
