Resumen de La riconfigurazione settecentesca della chiesa dell'Annunziata di Giugliano

Luigi Abetti, Antonio Nardelli

  • The present study, taking up a line of research that emerged during the last two decades of the last century, partakes in the broader discussion of the relations between 'center' and 'periphery' in the Late-Baroque period and, specifically, between Naples and certain centers in Campania where the Late-Baroque arose in the 1740s. Systematic study of the artistic patronage of the Annunziata Church in Giuglaino in the 18th century reveals that that Sacred Institution embraced the architectural, pictorial, and urbanistic culture of the capital city of the Kingdom -a circumstance not be taken for granted considering that Roman architectural culture prevailed in the neighboring town of Aversa.
