El artículo aborda diversas claves para poder comprende la espiritualidad de san Agustín, comenzando por poner en su contexto la figura del santo postconstatiniano para preguntarse sobre los grados de santidad en san Agustín. Posteriormente aborda las diversas fases espirituales en los escritos de san Agustín, dividiendo la vida del doctor de Hipona en dos momentos, antes de su ordenación sacerdotal y después de la misma, señalando en la segunda etapa el papel y la función del Espíritu Santo como amor y principio de santidad. Se pone de manifiesto también la importancia del hombre espiritual en el periodo de la lucha anti- pelagiana. Se explica asimismo lo que es para san Agustín la espiritualidad del corazón.

The article deals with the key ideas to understand S. Augustine's Spirituality, setting in its context the figure of the postconstatinian saint, and discussing the topic of the degrees of sanctity in Saint Augustine. Later, it deals with the various spiritual phases in the writings of Saint Augustine, dividing the life of the doctor of Hippo in two moments, before and after his priestly ordination, pointing out in the second stage the role and function of the Holy Spirit as !ove and principie of holiness. Toe importance of spiritual man in the period of the anti-Pelagian struggle is also revealed. It also explains what is for Saint Augustine the spirituality of the heart.
