In Sat. 127.9 Petronius uses all the means to parody the famous Homeric ἱερὸς γάμος. A possible reference to a historical episode, as narrated by Livius (XXVI, 50), and the pornographic côté, both unexplored so far, sheds a new light on the impotence of Encolpius.
