  • Resumen
    • This paper aims to reflect the role of working women in the field of handling of horticultural products from a global perspective of a local development in the province of Almeria (Spain), focusing on job conditions among women that are common in some local enterprises. The methodology applied was based on surveys and focus group. The results obtained had been oriented to know the job conditions for women (in terms of discrimination, job satisfaction, and their situation among the organization); focusing on the role of men/women supervisors, their knowledge in terms of their collective Employment Agreement, and their occupational risk prevention. The discussion is that despite of the majority of women that say they know their obligation and rights among the workplace, the reality is different in terms of family conciliation, postural accidents, and the number of working hours; but for them, the most hours they work, the more money they earn. The final conclusion obtained is explained with a quote by one of the working women «It is not the best job, but it is my job.»
