    En este artículo se aborda la crítica que Kjartan Fløgstad lleva a cabo enParaíso en la tierra sobre la manera cómo escandinavos y latinoamericanos se percibenmutuamente. Dicha percepción identitaria parte del estereotipo, el cual permite construir unaimagen del otro sustentada en el prejuicio. Si bien la novela de Fløgstad afronta las dospercepciones, lo cierto es que enfatiza en la de los europeos sobre los latinoamericanos, alevidenciar el maltrato y la marginación que experimentan estos últimos cuando migran a lospaíses de los primeros. Para lograr el objetivo propuesto se apelará a algunos aportes teóricosde la imagología contemporánea.

    This article aims to show that in Paradise in the Land of Kjartan Fløgstadthere is a critique of the way Scandinavians and Latin Americans perceive each other. Thisidentity perception is based on stereotype, which builds an image of the other that issupported by prejudice. Now, although Fløgstad’s novel addresses both perceptions, the truthis that it emphasizes that of Europeans over Latin Americans, evidencing the mistreatmentand marginalization that the latter experience when they migrate to the countries of theformer. To achieve the objective proposed by the article, some theoretical contributions fromcontemporary imagology will be used.
