The work highlights how a complex legal system is used in some of Shakespeare’s works, and especially in The Merchant of Venice. According to the ideas particularly widespread in Italy and especially in Padua, this system was aimed at incorporating juridical science and particular legislation, and therefore it differed from the singular local regulations in force in the same period.

Si mette in evidenza come in alcune opere di Shakespeare, e specialmente ne Il mercante di Venezia, sia utilizzato un sistema giuridico complesso, che secondo le convinzioni particolarmente correnti in Italia e specialmente a Padova era preordinato per inglobare scienza giuridica e legislazioni particolari, differenziandosi così dalle singolari normative locali diffuse nella stessa epoca.
