Il Libellus de ponderibus et mensuris di Andrea Alciato, pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1530, fu una delle prime opere in materia di metrologia antica. L’articolo ne analizza il contenuto, le fonti, i precedenti e la fortuna tra XVI e XVII secolo, ricostruendo idealmente parte della biblioteca dell’autore e mettendo in relazione l’opera con l’ambiente culturale umanistico europeo.

The Libellus de ponderibus et mensuris of Andrea Alciato, published for first time in 1530, was one of the first works on ancient metrology. The article analyzes its content, sources, precedents and fortune between XVI and XVIII century, ideally recostructing a part of its author’s library and relating this work to the European humanistic cultural environment.
