This article discusses the meaning of a little-known verb, τεινῳ- δάω, which is transmitted by a small number of ancient lexicographers. The word is not currently listed in classical dictionaries, but calls for further scrutiny. An etymologizing sense of the verb is given by some ancient lexicographers (‘to stretch song’), but others compare it with τραγῳδῶ. It might however be a corrupt dialect form, meaning to win a wreath as a victory prize for song.
