This article discusses several groups of Sanskrit roots which are likely to contain root enlargements -s- and -s-d-. Except for the roots mentioned in the title, these are, in the first place, mṣ- ‘to forget’ and mḍ- ‘to be merciful’ (< *mẓḍ-); iṣ- ‘to strive after, seek’ and īḍ- ‘to invoke’ (< *iẓḍ-).
