    Este artículo presenta una propuesta a los altos índices de deserción y repitencia de las carreras que contemplan las ciencias básicas dentro de su plan de estudios, de la misma forma que los cuatro bloques de esta carrera. El nivel de conocimiento en las ciencias básicas es determinante para el éxito y la permanencia del estudiante en la carrera ingeniería industrial. Motivo por el cual se establece como medida para determinar este nivel de conocimiento, las pruebas de ubicación diagnóstica, que se elaboran mediante un proceso sistemático y riguroso. Si el estudiante no pasa estas pruebas, tiene la opción de cursar los nivelatorios. Con esto, se espera garantizar el éxito y la permanencia de los estudiantes en la carrera de ingeniería industrial.

    This article presents a proposal to the high rates of dropout and repetition of the careers that contemplate in his curriculum the basic sciences, in the same way as the four blocks of this career.

    The level of knowledge in the basic sciences is determinant for the success and permanence of the student in the industrial engineering career. The reason why it is established as a measure to determine this level of knowledge, the tests of diagnostic location, are elaborated through a systematic and rigorous process. If the student does not pass these tests, have the option to take the level. With that’s proposal hopes to guarantee the success and the permanence of the students in the race of industrial engineering.
