  • Resumen
    • Sir James RennellRodd was one of the most important British ambassadorsbetween the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth century. He was active in Berlin,Athens, Cairo and Stockholm. After the crisis of Bosnia Herzegovina and until 1919,Rodd led the British embassy in Rome in a crucial period for Italy. Rodd disagreedfrom the Foreign Office line which attributed little importance to Italy and he thoughtit was necessary to link Italian interests more closely to the British ones. In his Italianexperience, he proved himself as a great diplomat, playing a key role in the consolidationand in the choice of the Italian government to enter the war alongside GreatBritain and France. The analysis of his activity throws a new light on Italian-Britishdiplomatic relations in the liberal age
