    Ernesto Chavero ha sido un personaje desconocido para la historiografía, aun cuando fue un importante empresario en el campo editorial de inicios del siglo XX. Educado en un ambiente intelectual de escritores, historiado- res y políticos, no deja de sorprender a quien se adentra en su vida. Este artículo revela la travesía de un hombre que aprovechó todos los recursos que tuvo a su alcance para entrar a la vida política y ser un gran empresario. Perteneciente a la élite porfirista, tuvo la habilidad de hacerse de redes so- ciales, políticas y económicas que le permitieron formar su empresa.

    Alfredo Chavero has been, hitherto, unknown in Mexican Historiography, in spite of the fact that he was an important entrepreneur in the editorial world at the beginning of the XXth century. Raised in a milieu of intellectu- als, writers, historians and politicians, he bears always a surprise for those who learn about his life. This paper reveals the journey of a man that made profit of all the resources he could use in order to enter political life and become a businessman. Being a part of a family that belonged in the Porfirian elite, had the capacity to build social, politica, economical net- works that he used in order to create his business.
