Este artículo presenta, contextualiza y discute las significativas observacio- nes del embajador uruguayo en los Estados Unidos de América contenidas en un documento recientemente hallado en el Archivo Histórico Diplomáti- co del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Uruguay. El mismo versa cerca de las “delicadas circunstancias” que rodeaban al “caso Guatemala” en momentos en que se estaba dilucidando el futuro inmediato del régimen democrático que presidía Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán, derrocado muy poco tiempo después gracias al golpe militar orquestado por la CIA.
