Many European countries consider the Italian Supreme Judicial Council as a model for the purpose of guaranteeing the independence of the judiciary. In fact, several European countries decided to introduce similar institutions in their systems. Focusing on the most relevant foreign experiences, the Author underlines how the adoption of the Italian model is not always able to avoid the mutual conditioning of political institutions and the judiciary.
