Este artículo trata de un cuadro de Ramón Gaya, “Espejo y flor. Cardesse”, de 1939, uno de los primeros que pintó en el exilio, en Cardesse (Francia). A través de una descripción y análisis del cuadro, podemos comprender mejor los fundamentos de la experiencia del exilio, basados en la escisión de la subjetividad y del decurso temporal. El cuadro no es una metáfora o un símbolo del exilio, sino una tentativa de visualizar la invisibilidad que toda escisión exílica conlleva. Muestra así el vínculo sutil entre la pintura de Gaya y esta peculiar invisibilidad.

The present article touches on the painting “Mirror and flower. Cardesse, 1939” by Ramon Gaya, one of the first paintings in exile.
We can better understand, by means of the description and analyse of the painting, the grounds of the experience of exile, based on the split of subjectivity and the temporality. The painting is not a metaphor or a symbol of exile, but an attempt to display the invisibility of exile. It shows thus the subtle link between the painting of Gaya and the peculiar invisibility of exile.
