Resumen de La obra narrativa de Caryl Phillips: tras las huellas de una tradición dual

Juan Fernando Galván Reula

  • This paper is an attempt to explain the effort carried out by Phillips to trace the growth of a black Caribbean tradition in the English language, as well as to preserve the British and European ties that belong to his own personal development. An analysis and interpretation of Caryl Phillips’s novels is presented from the perspective of two themes: the island, associated with isolation and segregation, and slavery. This study includes his five novels to date and also his travel book The European Tribe.
