Resumen de Villardompardo (Jaén): del asentamiento romano al castillo bajomedieval

  Sobre un asentamiento romano ubicado en el actual municipio de Villardompardo (Jaén), se levantó entre los siglos XIII y XIV un pequeño castillo. En su planificación, este último siguió la organización anterior y reaprovechó parte de sus estructuras. Pero los niveles romanos sufrieron importantes alteraciones debido a la construcción del propio castillo y a las continuas reformas que, a lo largo del s. XVI, se sucedieron en el mismo con el objetivo de transformarlo en un palacio. Sin embargo, mediante la combinación de los datos de la excavación y el análisis de la arqueología de la arquitectura, se ha conseguido establecer la cronología de los paramentos y reconstruir cómo era el conjunto en cada momento. En este estudio nos centramos en las fases romana y medieval.

  On top of a roman settlement located in the current town of Villardompardo (Jaén) a small castle was erected between 13th and 14th centuries. The planning of this building followed the organization of the previous one and re-used part of its structures. But the Roman levels suffered important alterations due to the construction of the castle itself and the constant renovations during the 16th century to transform the castle into a palace. Nevertheless, through the combination of the data obtained in the excavation and the analysis of the archaeology of the architecture, we can establish the chronology of the faces and reconstruct the architectural ensemble in each moment. In this study we focus in the roman and medieval phases.
