Reflexión sobre los orígenes de la ciudad, las motivaciones que movieron su constitución y finalidades que perseguían sus constructores. Las ciudades fortificadas que se erigen para la guarda y defensa de riquezas acumuladas, la belleza monumental de las ciudades estados del mediterráneo, la grandiosidad imponente de las ciudades imperiales, el refinamiento de las ciudades, construídas para el disfrute y el placer del buen vivir, del lejano y cercano oriente, el conglomerado laberíntico de las ciudades amurallas medievales, claramente estructuradas, el esplendor artístico de las ciudades renacentistas, el rebosamiento estético del barroco, el desbordamiento monstruoso de las urbes colosales, de crecimiento incontrolado, que persiguen vanamente la ciudad perfecta, son utopías en el horizonte que nunca se alcanzan. Al mismo tiempo se hace un elogio de la dificultad que da Jugar a que las soluciones arquitectónicas y urbanísticas sean más complejas, inteligentes e interesantes. También se hace una breve consideración sobre las ciudades programadas y futuristas.

This is a reflection on the origins of the town, the because of its constitution and the aims looked for the builders. The stronhhold towns for the wealth guard and defense, the mediterranean state-towns monumental beauty, the imposing mafnificence of the imperial towns, the nicety of the towns building to enjoyment and hedonist pleasure in the far and near east, the labyrinthine structure of the medieval walled towns, the artistic splendor of the renaissancist, the baroque overflowing and, finally, the huge eirowth of the colosal metropolis, ali of them uselessly looking for the perfect town, the utopian town, allways in the horizont. At the same time I pay a tribute to he difficulty which is the cause of intelligent complex and interesting architectural and urban solutions, there is also a little reflection on the futuristic programaed towns.
