Resumen de Olas de Calor y Entregas Diarias de Leche en Tambos de la Cuenca Lechera Central Argentina

  Los objetivos fueron: 1. estimar las horas con Õndice de Temperatura y Humedad (ITH) porencima del umbral de confort (ITH=72) para el ganado de origen europeo, durante el perÌodo estival,en el ·rea de la Argentina ubicada al norte de los 41∫S y al este de los 65∫ W, y 2. determinar laocurrencia de olas de calor en la cuenca central argentina y su impacto sobre la cantidad de lecheentregada a la industrias. Con datos del Servicio MeteorolÛgico Nacional y del INTA (perÌodo 1971-2004), se determinaron, las horas mensuales con ITH>72, que fluctuaron entre 100 y 650 por mes. Enla cuenca central se registraron 20 olas de calor en el perÌodo 2000-2005. Tuvieron impacto sobre elvolumen de leche entregado a la industria cuando la intensidad fue mayor, fundamentalmente enfunciÛn del ITH mÌnimo, y el perÌodo de recuperaciÛn nocturno fue de menos de 8 horas

  The objectives were: 1. to estimate hours with Temperature Humidity Index (THI) above thecomfort threshold (THI=72) for European cattle, during the summer period, in the area of Argentinalocated north of 41∫ S and east of 65∫ W, and 2. to determine the development of heat waves in thecentral Argentine milk supply area, as well as their impact on the volume of milk delivered toindustry. Hours with THI>72 were determined with data obtained from the National MeteorologicalService and INTA (period 1971-2004). They fluctuated between 100 and 650 per month. Twentyheat waves were detected in the central milk supply area during the period 2000-2005. They affectedthe volume delivered to industry when they were more intense, as evaluated mainly with minimumTHI, and when the night recovery period was shorter than 8 hours
