The proposal made in the present essay is based on a “musicograma” of the overture of the opera “Carmen” by Bizet. The present essay has the following goals: to teach musical structures, to practice rhythm and melody by using this tool that will benefit students’ approach to the opera world. So, musical and literary education will be connected because rhythm (in the first place) and melody will be carried out starting by declamation and interpretation of a text that was created specifically for rhythmic and melodic practice of the overture (purely instrumental). This text shows an overview of the opera plot that will be previously explained to the students. The “musicograma” gives the opportunity of listening to music in an active way and to promote the interest and development of listening and the critical ability of students.
