Resumen de Nursing Now y la investigación de enfermería

Es indiscutible que la atención a las necesidades de salud de la población en la actual sociedad en la que todos convivimos, pasa inexorablemente por el asentamiento y fortalecimiento de la figura y el rol del profesional de la enfermera dentro del Sistema Sanitario y en la sociedad, y esto no será posible sin el fortalecimiento de su labor en el ámbito de la investigación.
La importancia de la investigación en la disciplina enfermera, viene avalado por un aumento en la última década de los proyectos de investigación, las publicaciones científicas, la consecución del grado de doctor/a, las especialidades en enfermería, así como la concesión de ayudas y becas. Todo esto supone un considerable impulso para el avance de la investigación enfermera así como el desarrollo disciplinar y profesional de la Enfermería.
“Este crecimiento es consecuencia del deseo, por un lado, de normalización dentro del mundo académico y científico, y por otro lado, de la necesidad de consolidación como ciencia generadora de conocimientos e investigación propios, sustentando la práctica clínica en los resultados de la investigación” [1](Hernández-Rodríguez JE, Cilleros-Pino L, Díaz-Hernández M) Es cierto que en general la enfermería tiene una actitud positiva hacia la investigación, considerando que es una acción necesaria y una función de la actividad profesional. Sin embargo, la sobrecarga laboral, el tiempo y esfuerzo que requiere investigar, la falta de educación en metodología científica, la falta de habilidades del idioma inglés que se requieren para publicar en muchas revistas internacionales de alto impacto de enfermería y la falta de incentivos financieros para investigación, entre otros, constituyen obstáculos evidentes.
A pesar de todos estos obstáculos, la investigación enfermera, está en una posición ideal para contribuir y liderar los cambios transformadores que están apareciendo en las sociedades actuales, globalizadas pero para ello necesitamos mejorar el conocimiento, cambiar la manera de pensar y visibilizar lo que hacemos. El movimiento Nursing Now nos ofrece una estupenda oportunidad para desarrollar esta función investigadora al exponer la necesidad de: “fomentar la investigación enfermera con un aumento de su financiación y propiciando las unidades de investigación en cuidados”.
La investigación es todo un reto para la mayoría de profesionales pero también lo es para nuestra profesión la incorporación del conocimiento que emerge de la investigación en la práctica profesional. El logro de este reto contribuirá a mejorar los cuidados de salud que prestamos y al desarrollo de nuestra disciplina. No olvidemos nunca que si no transferimos el conocimiento disponible a la práctica clínica, de nada nos sirve la evidencia existente.
Esperamos que la revista “Conocimiento Enfermero” junto con otras producciones científicas en el ámbito de la enfermería esté contribuyendo a hacer realidad la importancia de la investigación para el avance de nuestra profesión.

It is indisputable that the attention to the health needs of the population in the current society in which we all live, inexorably passes through the settlement and strengthening of the figure and role of the professional nurse within the Health System and in society, and this will not be possible without strengthening its work in the field of research.
The importance of research in the nursing discipline is supported by an increase in the last decade of research projects, scientific publications, the attainment of the doctoral degree, specialties in nursing, as well as the awarding of grants and scholarships. All this represents a considerable boost for the advancement of nursing research as well as the disciplinary and professional development of Nursing.
"This growth is a consequence of the desire, on the one hand, of standardization within the academic and scientific world, and on the other hand, of the need for consolidation as a science that generates its own knowledge and research, supporting clinical practice on the results of research" [1] (Hernández-Rodríguez JE, Cilleros-Pino L, Díaz-Hernández M).
It is true that in general nursing has a positive attitude towards research, considering it a necessary action and a function of professional activity. However, the work overload, the time and effort required for research, the lack of education in scientific methodology, the lack of English language skills required to publish in many high impact international nursing journals and the lack of financial incentives for research, among others, constitute evident obstacles.
Despite all these obstacles, nursing research is in an ideal position to contribute to and lead the transformative changes that are emerging in today's globalized societies, but to do so we need to improve knowledge, change the way we think and make visible what we do. The Nursing Now movement offers us a wonderful opportunity to develop this research function by stating the need to: "encourage nursing research by increasing funding and promoting research units in nursing care".
Research is a challenge for most professionals, but so is the incorporation of the knowledge that emerges from research into professional practice for our profession. Meeting this challenge will contribute to improving the health care we provide and to the development of our discipline. Let us never forget that if we do not transfer the available knowledge to clinical practice, the existing evidence is of no use to us.
We hope that the journal "Nursing Knowledge" together with other scientific productions in the field of nursing is contributing to make the importance of research for the advancement of our profession a reality.
