La filosofía de “one health”:: Juntos es mejor

    El término “zoonosis” define a aquella “enfermedad o infección que se transmite de forma natural de los animales vertebrados a los humanos”, según la OMS. La prevención y control de enfermedades transmisibles de carácter infeccioso desde animales a hombres de forma directa o indirectamente, plantea una amenaza global de salud pública. La coyuntura en la que nos encontramos a nivel mundial y los errores que se han cometido en la gestión de la pandemia a nivel político, social y sanitario hace de especial relevancia poner en conocimiento del lector estrategias como la ofrecida bajo la filosofía de “One Health”. El mundo se ha dado cuenta de que la única forma de hacer frente de forma efectiva a estos nuevos peligros es adaptando los sistemas existentes de manera coordinada. De este modo las soluciones a problemas económicos, sanitarios y sociales serían tratadas en conjunto de forma coordinada e interdisciplinar, evitando errores individualistas.

    The term “zoonosis” is known as “disease or infection that is transmitted naturally from vertebrate animals to humans”, according to the WHO. The prevention and control of spreading diseases from animals to humans, directly or indirectly, supposes a global threat to public health. The situation in which we find ourselves worldwide and the mistakes that have been made in the management of the pandemic at the political, social and health level make it especially important to inform the reader of strategies such as that offered under the “One Health” philosophy. The world has realized that the only way to deal effectively with these new dangers is by adapting existing systems in a coordinated way. In this way the solutions to economic, health and social problems would be dealt with together in a coordinated and interdisciplinary way, avoiding individualistic mistakes.
