El presente artículo constituye una cronología y análisis de las etapas por las cuales ha atravesado la enseñanza de la lengua. Desde los griegos hasta la aparición de las TIC se hace especial énfasis en la necesidad de una adecuación idónea de los docentes de lengua del siglo XXI a la realidad comunicativa impuesta por la presencia de elementos tecnológicos, los cuales han influenciado de manera pertinaz al hombre contemporáneo y establecido nuevas formas de interrelacionarse espacial y temporalmente.

This article is a reflection that presents a chronology and analysis of the stages through which has passed through the teaching of language, from the Greeks to the advent of ICT, special emphasis on the need that society has of a suitable adaptation of language teachers of this century to the communicative reality imposed by the presence of technological elements, which have influenced contemporary man obstinately, establishing new ways of interacting in space and time.
