El artículo hace un análisis comparado de la forma de estado entre las constituciones de 1863 y 1886, ayudado por el contexto histórico, para mostrar de manera crítica las realidades de lo que ha significado el Estado Federal y el Estado Central en Colombia y como el partidismo ha desfigurado estos conceptos, afectando el sentido propio de las regiones y también a la caracterización de la nación colombiana. Se concluye que el federalismo y el centralismo aún siguen siendo puntos de debatey,también,que debe permitirse espacios de democracia y la participación para facilitar propuestas que construyan una tercera vía, respecto las formas de equidistantes de estado.

The article makes a comparative analysis of the state form between the constitutions of 1863 and 1886, helped by the historical context, to show critically the realities of what the federal state and the central state have meant in Colombia and how partisanship It has disfigured these concepts, affecting the proper sense of the regions andthe characterization of the Colombian nation. It is concluded that federalism and centralism still remain points of debateand that democracy and citizen participation must be allowed to be the way to understand one or another concept of the state.
