    La familia durante la enfermedad y hospitalización de un pariente con diagnóstico oncológico, juega un papel esencial al momento de brindarle el acompañamiento en su proceso de tratamiento, puesto que ese apoyo servirá en su mejoría y fortaleza para luchar por su vida. El objetivo del estudio es caracterizar las condiciones familiares que favorecen el acompañamiento en el tratamiento de los pacientes oncológicos, para ello se realizó un estudio con enfoque positivista, de nivel descriptivo con corte transversal no experimental. Se aplicó una encuesta a 20 pacientes que reciben tratamiento oncológico dentro de las instalaciones del hospital SOLCA de Portoviejo y 20 encuestas a familiares o cuidadores que se encontraban acompañando a estos pacientes. Los resultados permitieron constatar que las condiciones familiares que favorecen la permanencia en el acompañamiento del tratamiento de un familiar oncológico se deben a la existencia del fortalecimiento en las relaciones familiares, sociales, buen estatus económico y estabilidad emocional en los miembros del grupo familiar.  Se evidenciaron pacientes oncológicos que llegan solos a recibir el tratamiento e incluso llegan por un examen o cita médica y se presentan sin ningún acompañante. Cabe resaltar que las condiciones familiares que favorecen la permanencia del acompañamiento en el tratamiento de los pacientes oncológicos es un compromiso radical y de responsabilidad que deben de tener las familias para sobrellevar la enfermedad del paciente.

    The family during the illness and hospitalization of a relative with an oncological diagnosis, plays an essential role in providing the accompaniment in their treatment process, since that support will help them in their improvement and strength to fight for their lives. The objective of the study is to characterize the family conditions that favor the accompaniment in the treatment of cancer patients. For this purpose, a study was carried out with a positivist approach, at a descriptive level with a non-experimental cross section. A survey was applied to 20 patients receiving their oncological treatment within the Solca Portoviejo facilities and 20 surveys to family members or caregivers who were accompanying these patients. The results made it possible to verify that the family conditions that favor the permanence in the treatment accompaniment in an oncological family member is due to the existence of the strengthening in family, social relationships, good economic status, emotional stability in the members of the family group. Oncological patients were seen arriving alone to receive their treatment and even came for an examination or medical appointment and presented without any companion. It is important to highlight that the family conditions that favor the permanence of accompaniment in the treatment of cancer patients, is a radical commitment and responsibility that families must have to cope with the patient's disease.
