    El riesgo de padecer Neumonía Asociada a Ventilación Mecánica (NAVM) es muy elevado en las Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI), lugar donde un alto porcentaje de pacientes precisan Ventilación Mecánica (VM) durante su estancia.

    Enfermería juega un papel fundamental para prevenir esta enfermedad aplicando metódicamente medidas sencillas, logrando mejorar la calidad asistencial, reduciendo la morbimortalidad, los días de ingreso en UCI y el coste sanitario.

    The risk of suffering from Ventilation Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is very high in Intensive Care Units (ICU), where a high percentage of patients require Mechanical Ventilation (MV) during their stay.

    Nursing plays a fundamental role in preventing this disease by methodically applying simple measures, managing to improve the quality of care, reducing morbidity and mortality, the days spent in the ICU and the healthcare cost.
