    Based on contemporary political dynamics and from the role by social media in its political use, which gave rise to expres-sions such as post-truth, bankruptcy of common sense and deconstruction of the political, we will discuss with the help of Hanna Arendt the relations between politics and truth and the distinctions established between opinion and factual truth. Our hypothesis is that, historically, the close relations between politics and lies, as well as the use of new technical-mediatic elements in the political sphere, do not present themselves as novelty. The technical means, after their surprise and initial success, tend to homogenise themselves and lose their spectacular significance. This process has been repeated historically since the advent of rhetoric in the democratic process in Ancient Greece until the use of social media as political instrument in contemporaneity, through the use of other means that at the time occupied the same place and questioned the political and its relation to facts.

    A partir das dinâmicas políticas contemporâneas e do papel das mídias sociais no uso político, que deram origem a expressões como pós-verdade, falência do senso comum, desconstrução do político, discutiremos com auxílio de Hannah Arendt as relações entre política e verdade e as distinções que estabelece entre verdade factual e opinião. Temos como hipótese, que, historicamente, as íntimas relações entre política e mentira, assim como o uso de novos elementos técnicos-mediáticos no âmbito do político, não se configuram nenhuma novidade. Os meios técnicos depois de sua surpresa e sucesso inicial, tendem a se homogeneizar e perder sua significação espetacular. Esse processo se repetiu historicamente desde o advento da retórica no processo democrático na Grécia Antiga até o uso de mídias sociais como instrumento político na contemporaneidade, passando pelo uso de outros meios que em seu momento ocuparam o mesmo lugar e colocaram em questão o político e suas relações com os fatos.
