    The present study is an attempt to elaborate a “diagnosis of the present” about the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and its consequences. Political philosophy, throughout its history, has produced numerous definitions of the act of gover-ning. We will present one more. Such an attempt will focus on understanding the “art of governing” as the domination of state resources practiced for the benefit of certain social classes to the detriment of others. To undertake such an un-derstanding, we will address the following topics: 1- analysis of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic; 2- the art of managing life and death in the pandemic; 3- the pandemic as a living metaphor for the “art of governing”; 4- the solutions given in the case of the pandemic and the floods in the same year 2020 in Brazil: contradiction in action; 5- the use of federal government resources to help the oligopolies and the abandonment of the poor population. At the end, we will enunciate questions related to the political problem of the valorization of scientific knowledge and about the consequences of the revaluation of social movements.

    O presente estudo é uma tentativa de elaborar um “diagnóstico do presente” acerca da pandemia de SARS-CoV-2 e de suas consequências.  A filosofia política, ao longo de sua história, produziu inúmeras definições acerca do ato de governar. Apresentaremos mais uma. Tal tentativa terá como foco a compreensão da “arte de governar” como a dominação dos recursos estatais praticada em benefício de certas classes sociais em detrimento de outras. Para empreender tal compreensão, abordaremos os seguintes temas: 1- análise da pandemia de SARS-CoV-2; 2- a arte de administrar a vida e a morte na pandemia; 3- a pandemia como metáfora viva da “arte de governar”; 4- as soluções dadas no caso da pandemia e das enchentes no mesmo ano de 2020 no Brasil: contradição em ato; 5- o uso de recursos do governo federal para socorrer os oligopólios e o abandono da população pobre. Ao final, enunciaremos questões relativas ao problema político da valorização do saber científico e acerca das consequências da revalorização dos movimentos sociais.
