  • English

The encounter between literature and philosophy in the work of Emmanuel Levinas, is the focus of our attention here. Far from trying to exhaust the topic, but seeking to understand their relationships and showing points where these two activities intertwine, the intention that guides us is to indicate from which perspectives literary action influences Levinas. In fact, in many of his theses the-re is a close relationship with what already vibrates as “insigths” in classic works of literature, mainly those of Russian literature. Alongside the sacred scriptures of Judaism, literature is also a source of inspiration for the theses that throu-ghout his work he will defend. The interest is also to highlight how enriching it is when thinkers join other areas of knowledge, as is easily demonstrated in his-tory. Literature is for Levinas the place where we connect to the thrill of life, the locus of the pulse of something that can, yes, animate the philosophical doing and, more than that, discourse capable of making one’s own thinking go further
