The arts are also reflective ways of thinking about the deeper questions that touch the human being. In this text, we aim to reflect two antagonistic meanin-gs for human death. The first given by Plínio Pacheco through the character of Judas, in his play Jesus, of the staging of the Passion of Jesus Christ of New Jerusalem in Pernambuco – Brazil and the second of the cross death of Christ from the thought of the Spanish theologian Juan Luis Ruiz de la Peña. To this end, we began our reflection on the culture-religion relationship in the northeast of Brazil, passing to the presentation of the text of Judas scenes in the play, to arrive at the reflection of the Christian eschatology in the light of the thought of Ruiz de la Peña.

As artes são também formas reflexivas para pensar as questões mais profundas que tocam o ser humano. Neste texto, temos por objetivo refletir sobre dois significados antagônicos para a morte humana: o primeiro, dado por Plínio Pacheco através do personagem de Judas, em sua peça Jesus, da encenação da Paixão de Jesus Cristo de Nova Jerusalém em Pernambuco – Brasil, e o segundo, da morte de Cristo na cruz a partir do pensamento do teólogo espanhol Juan Luis Ruiz de la Peña. Para tanto, iniciamos nossa reflexão pela relação cultura-religião no Nordeste brasileiro, passando à apresentação do texto das cenas de Judas na peça teatral para chegarmos à reflexão sobre a escatologia cristã à luz do pensamento de Ruiz de la Peña.
