Resumen de Silêncio e Dignidade na contemporaneidade

Walter Moure, Fernando Genaro

  • English

The article addresses silence and hu-man dignity as facets of contemporary ethical suffering. The authors, psychoanalysts, reflected from their witnesses in the cli-nic, in particular, about a chronicle of a patient, with literary value, originated during his psychoanalytic process. Then, they sought an articulation of this pro-blem, privileging Lévinas’ unpublished writings. To this end, a dialogue was used between the chronicle and Lévinas’ conference on the word and silence, with a view to reverberating considerations about the ethical need for the word to be heard, and not captured by the being, just as they questioned the viability of the caring in psychology in the face of contemporary suffering.

Abstract: The article addresses silence and human dignity as facets of contemporary ethical suffering.
