    El cáncer es una de las principales causas de muerte en el mundo. Esta enfermedad tiene un gran impacto en el paciente y su entorno, no solo en la dimensión física, si no también en la psicológica, debido a la diversidad de tipos de cáncer que hay. A pesar de que existen numerosos estudios que constatan la importancia y los beneficios de realizar un tratamiento psicoterapéutico durante y después de la enfermedad, el sistema de Salud en España adolece de profesionales especializados en psicooncología y Psicología Clínica en general. Con una sociedad cada vez más concienciada sobre la importancia de la Salud Mental, no hay excusa para ampliar el número de plazas de este perfil sanitario dentro del Sistema Nacional de Salud.

    Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world. Not only has this disease a significant impact on the patient and his environment, but also in the psychological one, due to the diversity of types of cancer that exist. Despite the fact that there are numerous studies that confirm the importance and benefits of carrying out psychotherapeutic treatment during and after the disease, the Health system in Spain lacks professionals specialized in psycho-oncology and Clinical Psychology in general. In a society increasingly aware of the importance of Mental Health, there is no excuse to expand the number of places of this health profile within the National Health System to provide a quality service.
